Tablets... what size to they start at?
Authored by: Anonymous on Saturday, May 05 2012 @ 09:23 PM EDT
Just noticed that the Galaxy Note is being called a Phone-Tablet.

OK the Note is 5.3 inches.

The Galaxy S3 is 4.8.

The Kindle fire is 7 inches.

The iPad is 9.7 inches.

I think Samsung is being clever here and fighting apple on size.

hmm I wonder what the next iPhone screen size will be?

interesting:

Judge Alsup's discretion
Authored by: AMackenzie on Sunday, May 06 2012 @ 09:07 AM EDT
Does anybody else find it surprising just how much discretion Judge A. has
exercised before and during this trial? Like deciding himself how many damage
reports to accept from Oracle, postponing ruling on the copyrightability of
APIs, and deciding whether or not to accept a partial verdict from the jury. As
well as unilaterally paring down Oracle's case right at the start.

I always thought legal procedure was fairly strictly defined. What am I missing
here?

Avengers
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, May 06 2012 @ 09:47 AM EDT
Went to the movies this weekend and watched the new Avengers flick. It
was fun and I enjoyed it. All of it, except for the disgusting red "Sun
Oracle" logo placed in the begining of the movie. Kind of reminds me of
the pompous cameo appearance of Larry Ellison in the second Ironman
movie. Tiresome. I guess sociopaths need gregorious outlets?

"Google" has turned into a hip, new verb. When I hear the word
"oracle" I still first think of the crusty, old lady in
"Matrix" and then
second, the crusty old software company with some ORA-error code I
have to ponder.

btw- I'm writing this on my rooted tablet running CM7.

Waiting for Panasonic to sue Nokia
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, May 06 2012 @ 03:55 PM EDT

Panasonic have used the trademark LUMIX for several years, most products are
'mobile' and at least one runs Android, and several have WiFi. They are cameras,
but then so are many phones.

Nokia now uses the trademark LUMIA which has the initial 80% identical to
Panasonic's and the remaining letter resuses the two strokes of the X slightly
displaced. How much more similar could they be ?

LG backs off Windows Phone
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, May 06 2012 @ 06:31 PM EDT
LG backs off Windows Phone for now, report says

Perhaps they have stopped making them until Microsoft gives them a billion dollars, as they did to Nokia, or at least 300 million, as B&N just got.

Cartoonist Gavin Aung Than offers his graphic version of the famous Neil deGrasse Tyson quote, illustrating it in a single, beautiful webcomic.
