Maybe? Alaska and most N. American areas that are northerly
(and not *that* far north), seem to have a big issue with
bugs in larger than average numbers that bite people -
fished a bit up in those northern areas, and biting bugs
were a big problem to plan for.

Caribou keep running, some say, just because if they are a
moving target then it is harder for the bugs to bite (or
build in concentrations high enough to drive them totally
crazy (they drive them crazy anyway, but not totally)?

So, Nokia has a big bug or two to deal with themselves.

Can anyone clarify if N. Europe, Asia (Russia) has the same
bug issue?

Surely Finland has it's own share of world's mosquitos, but if you live in a
city, you'll meet a couple if any during summer. And not the Nile race like in
NY. Yet. The malaria mosquito disappeared about 150 years ago for some reason.
The real mosquito season in Lapland is relative short so Finnish tourists can
stay away as well informed foreigners. And the locals are accustomed and don't
mind at all.
