Ok, first off, with a decent UI on the player, you can already return to where
you were far more acurately than by chapter selection, it's the slider at the
bottom of the xine interface.
By filesystem: all I want is the movie files on the disc (Preferably in OGG
Vorbis), I didn't buy the dvd to watch their silly animated menus that they
don't want you to skip, I bought it to watch the movie. Use ext4 on the disc,
let me use nautilus and xine, and you use KDE and totem, or whatever else you
want.
This still seems to me like reinventing the wheel for no reason, we have a
system that works for this. I can even set my system up to autoplay the movie
if I wanted to (I don't, autoplay is one of the worst security holes ever
invented)
There's a funny thing about software, if you look hard enough, you'll probably
find we've already solved the problem somewhere else. This one's been done, all
we need is the distributors to use the system that actually works best. Fat
chance of that happening though.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
