These questions (and the line of thinking) are irrelevant to
the subject matter.
An unprogrammed processor is just a piece of dead silicon.
Once the processor is programmed by some external means,
you obtain certain function.
If you wish to move from silicon chips to cats, the
correct line of thinking (for the programming != device
argument) would be to ask this:
If I take an egg cell from my cat, do a nuclear
transfer, replacing the domestic cat genes (the original
program) with the genes of a tiger (the new program),
and assume that the embryo survives, will the result
be a different animal from a domestic cat?
The answer is yes.

You'll have a lot of bites and scratches, and probably more
black on you than on the cat.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
