Yes, I've met users that stupid also. Even, astonishing as it seems, stupider
than that. There is (according to Einstein, no limit on human stupidity.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

It sounds like you are arguing, that just because some people don't know
what computers really are or what they are designed to do, that the law should
pander to their foolish beliefs instead of being addressed to the
reality.
In a sane world, it wouldn't matter what laymen think computers are
or aren't capable of--only what they are capable of!
And lawyers and
judges are laymen in the field of computer science. Instead of making up their
own nonsense ideas, they should defer to the experts.
Otherwise they will
continue to get themselves into trouble and establish more nonsensical
precedents that conflict with reality and cause all sorts of other
contradictions down the road. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Now you're not speaking of your typical general purpose computer.

you should have the keys to your house right?
WHY do we allow other people and others to have the keys to anything i
purchase?
sorry this becomes a philosophical debate on DRM.
As far as i am concerned pirates will always crack the stuff
so why bother people that will pay will pay or donate...
so really you do not need locks on my doors to my house.
if anyone has locks or rights to have locks its the owner of
the pc and should be that way....
This is why the windows 8 secure boot lockin is gonna be a
real fail for Microsoft.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

If somebody gets a machine for a certain purpose and somebody else changes it to
behave differently, then it's not another machine but a broken one. It doesn't
matter, that the machine does work fine and may do something extraordinary.
This is not a problem of some computer being changed but of this computer as a
specific tool.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
