As a computer scientist, I know that your statement that installing the
software "improves the machine" is factually false.

It may *seem* to you that the machine was improved, but thats because
you didn't understand what it was already capable of. Don't worry, most
other people don't understand it either. (OTOH, I understood it when I
was six years old, and that revelation was what led me to become a
computer scientist).
