maybe you need to define "semantics"
Authored by: PolR on Friday, July 20 2012 @ 12:33 PM EDT
I am not sure how this connect to what I have said. I have not argued software
is trivial at a theoretical level. I am explaining how the machine works and how
the functions of software are related to symbols, machine and semantics. My
point is not that this is trivial. It is that computer science is not how the
courts think it is.

The difference matters. For example this notion that programming a computer
makes a new machine is nonsense technologically speaking. Why we programmers
have to put up with laws like that? The fact that there is an entire industry
about software is not a reason to make laws that are technological nonsense.

Maybe you are just acknowledging I raised a valuable point and add a follow up
thought. But I am not sure.
