Take some of your old code. Something outdated or lacking many features of your
newer software. Then open source it under your own license or license of
choice. Use it as advertising. You might find more customers that way and
might be able to expand. If you so desire.
I respect your right to do what you want with your code, after all you put forth
the effort to write it and possibly maintain it over the years.
But if someone has a need that is similar to what you have done in the past, how
will they find their solution? Which might be you.
You may be missing some nice business opportunities.
Then again, you may have all the business you wish or need. And that is fine
also.
Open source means many things to many people.
One last comment, THANK YOU for reading the article. You don't have to agree
with it. But at least you have now been fair. To be critical of something such
