Anything that checks the boundaries of an array.
Whether that array exists in FORTRAN, PASCAL, C, ... or even the original
Basic.
The only thing specific to Java happens to be the syntax required to express it,

Do you really, honestly believe there's more then
a half dozen ways to reasonably code the above logic without putting in
superfluous code?
1: This is a basic chunk of code using the name to
completely define what the code is supposed to do. This may not represent the
code affected in the case. I've never seen that code so I don't know if follows
the same specification (rules) as applied above.
