Mark Papermaster Warned Apple & Steve Jobs Their External Antenna was a Rotten Idea!
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, August 12 2012 @ 09:21 AM EDT
When he turned out to be right Steve had him fired then in
2010. This was around the time that Steve was rumored to have
put it to Samsung that since they were now asking for license
fees on their SEPS (Standards Essential Patents) that what
about them using Android and copying iPhone and iPad (had
announced Samsung Tab 7 phone/tablet). Apple was asking for
as much as $30 per device for ripping Apple's designs.

Steve Jobs even had the gull to insult Samsung in a video
defending Apple's AntennaGate fiasco by saying we're not like
some foreign Korean company. That basically they don't make
mistakes.

But Mark Papermaster, who Apple had been working hard to
recruit from their old nemesis IBM, was barely out of a job
before being snapped up by AMD. Now they've just lost the
iconic Jim Keller to AMD as well. Jim Keller was the lead
engineer on Apple's A Series chips. Actually just reworked
Samsung designs. Because Apple has never has an ARM license.
They depend on their Fabricators to pay the licensing fees.

So there has been some problems in Cupertino losing some
prime talent in the process. Jim Keller was responsible for
AMD's success in designing their x86 64bit Opterons w/
Hypertransport. That chip was responsible for giving Intel
night sweats and wetting the bed, when benchmarks sales were
topping everything Intel had.

After leaving AMD he went to PA and worked on their
PWRficient RISC Processors. He's always been a mover and
shaker in the Semiconductor Design and Engineering World. Jim
is another one that seemed to rub Steve Jobs and Apple the
wrong way or visa versa depending on your point of view.
Apple shut down PWRficient RISC development and many believe
it was as a favor to Intel in their battles with IBM.

Anyway now Apple is left without their lead A Series Engineer
and they had to switch gears and loose face by again asking
Samusung to come to the rescue. So they will again be using
Samsung's new Exynos 4 now in iPhone 5 with it's bigger more
Android like 16:9 screen. When Steve had said they didn't
need a bigger screen or smaller iPad!

So what I'm saying is that though Steve Jobs was somewhat
responsible for saving Apple, it is beginning to look like
he's also going to be responsible for their DOWNFALL!

And that goes all the way back to his choice in beginning the
whole IP Strategy of Suing Competitor's out of the market. In
1982 Apple sued Franklin Computers for Copyright violations
right out of the business!

Now what I want to know, is how they could practically beg
Samsung to help them engineer and design parts for the
Original iPhone and now be suing them. If Apple really
thought Samsung had Copied the Xerox "Copier's" iPhone.....
why in the hell did they wait so long to sue them??? Is it
because they knew they couldn't do it without them and then
only after they were successful due to their help, did they
resort copying Microsoft's "Embrace Extend Extinguish"
tactics from their Halloween Documents and turn on the
company that help make them successful in the first place!
...Google is Right.. "Don't be Evil" Apple!!!

But when the chinks in their armor start falling and
revealing just how evil they are and how they treat their
best and most valued partner, you know they're running
scared. Especially now with Samsung set to not beat them by
30% greater Smartphone sales this year, but out sell them by
over 2 to 1 next year on Smartphones alone!

i started saying this a little over a decade ago
Authored by: sumzero on Sunday, August 12 2012 @ 10:53 AM EDT
i've been telling my colleagues for years that apple is just
as anti-competitive and duplicitous as ms and that the only
reason that this wasn't more obvious was simply due to
scale. most looked at me like i had no idea what i was
talking about, especially those under the influence of the
rdf, but those who had followed applevclosely over the years
could see my point. now, as apple is growing in size and
influence it is becoming increasingly obvious to just about
everyone. please note that i am not smug, but instead
disappointed at the outcome. i would have preferred to be
wrong and not have to deal with this environment today...

This is what drove the customers to Samsung

No-one could mistake an Android for Apple.

No wonder Android sales are twice as large with that attitude.
