Every phone for quite some time now has been able to use a charging adaptor of
some kind. Just because they call it a dock does not change the fact that it is
just a simple adaptor. You can buy wall warts with a whole pack of different
adaptors, to fit phones and other equipment, but the need for those is exactly
what the EU tried to eliminate. Had they done the job properly, Apple would
now find their products banned from sale in the EU. Instead, they were sloppy,
and left the way wide open for the very thing that they were supposedly trying
to eliminate. We should not be surprised, given the history of massive
incompetence and corruption in things like software patents, not forgetting the
monthly "fisheries" meeting which seemed to decide, totally undemocratically,
just about everything except fish problems, and lots more "irregularities". I
only mention those which have been previously discussed at length in Groklaw.
Those who follow the workings of the EU closely will know of very many more. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
