Re:
The logic of "on and off" being only binary math, in
biology, as it
relates to DNA and genetics?
Changes in
Monkeys' Social Status Affect Their

A female's social status affects how her genes turn on and
off,
and those
who rank higher tend to be healthier -- so long as their
social
status doesn't decline, according to a
study of rhesus macaques published in the
April 9
Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Switching Tasks Changes
Worker Bee DNA

The study is thought to be the first to show that
reversible
chemical markers on genes might drive different
behaviours in a
living creature. "If this is true in a bee
it has to be partly true in us.
Nature is pretty
good at finding the simplest way to accomplish things with
the
least amount of energy," said Dr
Andrew Feinberg, a senior author on the study
and geneticist
at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. "I'm
not saying we're
like big bees, but similar mechanisms must
apply." Feinberg and Dr Gro Amdam,
a
bee specialist at Arizona State University, studied a kind
of chemical
tagging called DNA methylation on
honeybee genes switched on in the
millimetre-cubed brains of
21 nurses and 22
foragers.
"What we understand now is that the bee
genome is like those
images where you can see two things, like an old
lady and
a young lady. These epigenetic marks seem to
outline those two women. Depending
on which bee
should come to life, the different sets of marks become
active,"
Dr Amdam told the Guardian. "These marks
can change from one image to another
and even back, and
something like that has never been observed
before in
biology," she said.
1-10, how impressive is THAT in your mind? My
take on the
bees and the monkey article, when looked at in a combined
light...
is that, this is HUGE, maybe the biggest discovery
since....? My guess, is
that much of the medical research
will be, or has already, be switching (or
past tense) over
to learning more about the DNA switches. We will see a race
to patent every angle that these switches allow for... as
someone will want to
own it all. At the least, well, the
bee and monkey discovery, explains a lot
as WOW, we are
dynamic creatures down to our cores? Meaning that maybe
stasis, is not natural, that a dynamic switching needs to
occur and not LOCK
down stuff (as it only then results in
creative pressures having to move
somewhere else to find the
outlet needed to exist and build and be creative)?
Hmmm,
what if memory is just a whole system of DNA or genetic
switches, that
are not static, but are dynamic. Where the
brain is like a computer, where we,
using a form of logic
that is like how bar codes and/or how encryption or math
works with various combination types of locks (encryption)
that change as we
learn more and have more experiences.
Where, maybe if we have a maximum
capacity for memory, that
there is a DNA or genetic switched logic used in the
brain,
where, we have a set (genetics that each is born with)
maximum amount
of storage (number of switches) that are able
to “remember” based on the on or
off (binary math) sequence
(unique encrypted code) of those switches.
Unlimited re-
writes using the same memory?
So, say you have 10 switches
(example), what if there was a
“unique code” or memory, that is encrypted each
time,
changing as we remember more... so, that those 10 switches
can have a
huge number of combinations that can be unlocked
(decrypted), in order to
present a different order of on/off
(think of photographic memory). Where the
“combination”
when changed, produces a different meaning, or even an
image, or
feeling recall, so we recall according to a unique
encrypted storage format?
So, the question becomes, then is the “key” that does the
locking and
unlocking also important, and where is it, if
one exists, and how would it
relate to dynamics of DNA or
genetics?
Is the brain capable of using binary
math, and encryption,
to “set” memories so that they can be recalled many years
later (and, that the recall speed is just a matter of the
unlocking
bio-mechanics that each of us is born with as
well)? Or, can we learn that too
(switches)? Now, what if
when the body had lived out it's natural life, and a
brain
were kept alive, and in the future that just the brain could
be
unlocked?
... To say nothing about how switches and future human
manipulation of switches in a population are allowed to
address various
subjects that these articles touch on.. such
as:
DISEASE,
BIRTH
DEFECTS,
POLITICS,
LOVE,
HATE,
REPULSION,
ATTRACTION,
COMPASSION,
PASSION,
EVOLUTION,
ETC...
and maybe even AGING?
What if, - It's all math. Binary math. On (value 0)
or OFF (value
1) -
Hmm, We all might be... simply just well ordered (basic
genetics we
inherit) complex binary creatures to our cores.
(Hard wired to be Dynamists?).
..
:)
Except, when the patent folks try to patent even this form
of binary
math, and try to patent something that has existed
for millions, and millions
of years... where they try to
call it an "invention" vs what it is, only a
"discovery". [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
