If all true, via "off" genes, could see ourselves (our past selves) clearly (aquatic apes)?

Fun stuff. Wow.

So maybe, we could see into our past about if the aquatic
ape were in our past somewhere?

http://www.ted.com/talks/elaine_morgan_says_we_evolved_from_
aquatic_apes.html

If all our genes that are not awake now, from our past,
could be woken up, then we could see exactly every stage
humans went through to get to where we are now? As if the
genes are there and are OFF, if we find them, would be easy
to switch on (but, then how ethical would that be to try, my
bet is that someone in some society in the world, who has no
ethical hangups, will study this freely)?

ON or OFF? Simple building block that would go back in
time to earliest, and if life traveled in primitive forms
through space, then the same building block logic would be
found in other places (out there somewhere). If true, then
yes there is life out there, and yes they might be close to
being on a parallel binary ruled ON OFF development path of
their own.
