Presuming Romney wins due to voting machines stuffing the ballot box, what can happen?
Authored by: Anonymous on Tuesday, November 06 2012 @ 07:38 PM EST
Legally he has a few options, however in practical terms there is nothing he can
do.

There is a hard time deadline to any disputes.

The constitution sets a specific date for the voting of the electoral college to
be completed and submitted to the House of Representatives.

The House then counts the votes.

If neither candidate gains a clear majority in the electoral college then a
simple majority vote in the house desides who the next president is.

Several scenarios are possible here. If Obama callenges a state certified win
for Romney in the courts, there are three possibilities that come from such
disputes.

The disputed state(s) get no electors. If this happens in enough states or in
certain critical states then there will be no majority in the electoral college
and the House decides the election.

The courts correctly decide that there is no way that the dispute can be settled
in Obama's favor all the way through SCOTUS and tell Obama to take a hike.

You end up with one or more disputed states having two full slates of electors
submit votes to the House. The House gets to decide which slate if either to
accept. If neither is acceepted go back to senario one.

Given that the House of Representatives currently has a Republican majority
under any of these senarios Romney wins.

There is only one possible scenario under which Obama can win this. He gets to
SCOTUS quickly enough for them to invalidate all of the electronic voting in all
states. The affected states ALL manage to hold a new election with paper only
ballots and get the ballots counted in time for electors to be slated and vote.
The odds of this happening are so small it is effectively indistinguisable from
zero.

Fixed that for fairness. We need to be apolitical around here.

I think the above poster is incorrect on one item. If the determination goes to
the Congress, the House decides who is President and the Senate decides who is
Vice-President from what I have read elsewhere. The U.S. could see a
Romney/Biden executive branch if that were to happen and the House and Senate
stay in the same majority they currently have. This scenario did happen in the
early 19th Century but I can't remember who the President was.

I just find it amazing that so many machines have, cough, calibration issues
while how many smartphones are sold that just work.

In Arizona this happened to Registered Democrats
Wrong dates.
Updated polling places for example,Your polling place has been moved 11 miles
in the wrong direction.
You can vote tomorrow if the lines are too long.
Not enough paper Ballots, some places ran out of ballots as early as 3:00.
Flake is celebrating the fraud by being a brand new Republican senator.
