Let's make this clear - There have been cases where Groklaw
has been wrong and FOSSPatents has been right. There have
been times when they came to the same conclusion. But above
all, Groklaw has always been transparent - that is the crux
of the argument. Forget all the 'bias', 'propaganda',
'shill', 'hired gun' arguments. Florian often posts opinions
based on information of a very grey nature. Often he
provides very credible links, and this is the problem - he
does this enough to look like an unbiased, objective
journalist (or at the least commentator). But he also posts commentary based on
information from who knows where, and
the media (lulled into a false sense of security) lap it up.
Look beyond what sides are being taken (we all take sides).
Look at how each are prepared to back up their position. PJ,
WITHOUT FAIL, backs up her position by either:
1) Providing a links to the info and encouraging us to make
up our own mind", or;
2) Stating that her opinion is pure speculation
(and often PJ does both)
Florian, on the other hand, always says 'I have read ABC and
it's obvious the XYZ will become of it'.
On top of that, PJ encourages us to explore and discuss what
is going on in the comments section. She'll correct us if we
get stuff wrong, and admit when she got something wrong.
It's only when there is a personal attack or completely
unreasonable statement that she will step in and tell
somebody to back off.
Florian, on the other hand, rules a completely closed blog.
And if you disagree with his position and try to post even
the most constructive criticism of his analysis on twitter,
he block you.
Tell me, who is more credible?[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
