You can usually find manufacturer info buried somewhere in /proc or /sys. Don't

If I recall correctly they are made in a Sony plant in the UK. Getting them made
in the UK was something the Pi People wanted very much. The initial order was
made in China because no one else could make a small run cost effectively. With
the initial run selling out so quickly that were able to get good terms Sony in
the UK for the much higher volume they were experiencing.

I agree with your sentiments, but if Sony has the best price, and the best
quality, and they don't market the product, I'll let it slide. They're just a
vendor. Despite the breathless tone of the article, PCB production a commodity
business. Did the recent Sony layoffs play into this?
