ITU 'failed'
Authored by: Ian Al on Friday, December 14 2012 @ 05:37 AM EST
We would not have known about the ITUs total failure without the ITU standards
for optical and copper cable telecommunications, telephone and telegraphy
international numbering schemes, telephone and data transmission and
communications standards, standard layouts for telephone keypads and dials,
frequency bands for voice transmission, standards for digital voice and music
encoding (where MP3 starts, not finishes), and so many more like digital
communications framing that my list is almost a trivial one.

It was the ITU promoting commercial FRAND terms for patents to get international
telecommunications interoperability and adoption. Telecommunications is voice,
data, video, image, text and the communication of no end of other stuff over
cable and radio and switching systems.

I get the picture of someone who has been disenfranchised and who is making ad
hominum attacks on those in post to try to discredit them and revive his
influence.

I may change my name to Ian Ab; I Am Not A Bureaucrat.

Software Patents: It's the disclosed functions in the patent, stupid!
