Dang! And I missed my chance with the little .32 revolver we
own. That would have done for the oldest. I would have
needed to buy guns for the other two.
I could have also trained them on Georgia's "stand your
ground" law.
That way we could have notched up three or four humans along
with the ground hogs and other assorted vermin I've

My daughter knows how to handle, operate, load, and use a gun and other weapons
safely. She's roughly in the age group of the Sandy Hook kids who died. That is
not to say, I would allow her to walk out the house with one. Under very limited
and highly controlled situations, she is being educated. She's been begging me
to take her hunting for years. I will take her when I feel she is ready and
won't present a danger to herself and others.
That said, I have been hunting with children in that age group. Children taught
proper respect and care for weapons at an early age make for more responsible

When I was in kindergarten I had a pop gun. Does that count? ;-)
