The only reason I have not rooted my tablet, is because doing so may (will,
according to the EULA) terminate my Square account, which is how I get paid.

If you know enough to know what a hosts file is, or what
pdnsd is, get a Nexus, download the Android SDK tools, run
fastboot oem unlock, and then you can flash you super user
package. Except for the last part, everything is supported
by the manufacture, and documented on their site. The super
user binaries are community built, and in all cases I've
found, open source.
Again, do you want everyone to run everything as Root? I
personally don't want to return to the days of fixing WinXP
