Fox News reports six major hurricanes during
November since
1910.
But here is the interesting part. Their names
were Kate, Lenny,
Michelle, Greta, 7 and 10. In
other words they were the eleventh, twelfth,
thirteenth, seventh (twice) and tenth of their
respective seasons.
Sandra
was number 19 and one month earlier
besides.
Trying to
misrepresent the data?
We did not have 19 Atlantic hurricanes in 2012.
I
counted 10 hurricanes. It's possible that I missed one or two, but I don't
think I did.
Keep in mind that in the 1900s, we did not have the techology we
have today to survey the weather. Unless a tropical storm or hurricane hit land
in a location that would report it, it would be less likely to be noticed. With
the technology we have today, it is unlikely that we could have a tropic storm
or hurricane go unnoticed.
So to compare the count of named storms in 2013 to
those much earlier in 20th century is nothing but misleading. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
