The people actually inthe store don't have any say, it's all decided by
upper-management hired "experts".
I feel that if they don't want my money, that's fine by me.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I also have the same complaint about stores and also telemarketers. In Canada,
we have a "do not call" list, which telemarketers are supposed to use
so they won't call phone numbers on the list. It doesn't stop them. In fact,
yesterday, I received three calls on behalf of Sun Life. Even after, on the
first call, I told them I was on the do not call list and they weren't to call
me again, they called twice more yesterday and again this morning. Don't
companies understand that harassment is not the way to get customers?

I found shopping in, of all places, HMV, painful for exactly that reason.
And I used to love wandering around The Chelsea Gardener for that reason too -
they used to have (mostly Mozart) playing quietly in the background.
Cheers,
