I got a 404 from your first link. Did he have to remove politics from the headline?

Don't speak to the Feds,

and whatever you do, don't lie to them. Bo Jiang was arrested not for carrying State secrets across the border, but for lying to a Federal Marshall about what he was carrying. Yeah, I know it's only a holding charge, and now they've got him they'll be decrypting his laundry chits ...
the defendant herein, in a matter within the jurisdiction of the Federal Bureau of lnvestigation ("FBI," hereafter) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), agencies of the United States, the defendant did knowingly and willfully make and cause to be made false, fictitious and fraudulent material statements and representations, and to falsify, cover up by trick, scheme, and device a material fact.

What is ITAR, and how did it break the Technical Report Server? I seached the linked pages and found a couple of occurrences of the word mil-ITAR-y.

What do Bo Jiang and his legal problems have to do with it?

I think the NASA folks know you can't take back stuff from the Dreaded Internet.

The government is a different story. Apparently Congress just doesn't get it,
particularly Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA). Does anyone with at least two brain cells
connected together believe for one minute that our enemies don't ALREADY HAVE
ALL the useful data from those archives?

Only the decent, law-abiding researchers and historians will suffer from this
closure.

Can't someone stop this insanity?
