I have ridden Chinese trains, often and never felt unsafe.
I'd rather ride a Chinese train than a US one.

Unless getting there slow and boring is more your style.
I rode the Shanghai Maglev, it is unbelievable!
Building go by zing zing zing, you accelerate REALLY HARD
until the midpoint (about 250mph but they can go faster)
then hard braking all the way into the airport station.

The braking phase regenerates the electrical inputs
from acceleration, and the start the train from the
airport station just as the outbound train hits the
brakes, so it's like a yoyo , trading kinetic energy
back and forth over the electric lines.

Seriously if high speed scares you, don't do it because
this is very very high speed. If you like roller coasters,
don't miss this ride!
