Switching to GNU/Linux
If you are interested in switching to a GNU/Linux system, we have created a page for the topic on Grokdoc. If you wonder if you'll be able to find an application to replace your current favorite, see also the Application Crossover Chart also on Grokdoc. Feel free to add to either page. It's under a Creative Commons license, attribution, noncommercial. You will need to become a member, though. We had issues with spammers. If you are looking for Linux preinstalled or hardware that is known to work well with Linux or vendors who will sell you a computer with no operating system, here's a nice list for you from LXer.com. If you are interested in learning about the command line, Linux Command is a resource for you. If you just want a quick list of the basic commands, here you go, from "Introduction to Command Line Linux" by Eric Nodwell. For those looking for that great thread, "Windows guy's 1st experience with Linux", it's here. Last Updated Sunday, September 28 2008 @ 10:37 AM EDT
