Apple Loses To iFone :-)
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, November 02 2012 @ 11:35 AM EDT
Oh, it's even better. Apple sued to try to force iFone to
give up it's name. This caused iFone to countersue saying
iPhone sounds too much like iFone, so now Apples aggression
has rebounded on itself - it cannot sell iPhones in Mexico.

Maybe they should have left well enough alone .....

Link from Newspicks

I think it would be appropriate, at this juncture, to define 'hubris':
"...In its modern use, hubris denotes overconfident pride and arrogance; it is often associated with a lack of humility, though not always with the lack of knowledge....It is also referred to as 'pride that blinds', as it often causes one accused of hubris to act in foolish ways that belie common sense...." - from Wikipedia.

I introduce a new term, 'apple' which means 'applied hubris': "Oops, I just did an apple!"
"Boy, you really appled that one!"
"let's apple it and see what happens."

On the iPhone brand:
"an 'i' for this, an 'i' for that, an 'i' for everything, just ain't where it's at..." (apologies to Boz Scaggs)
