Some discussion here is Australia is that the wording used seems similar to one
used by the TSA to "ask" to prevent people boarding aircraft.
The suggestion is that she may be on a US no-fly list.
The fact that the US's no-fly list causes an Australian citizen to be detained
when travelling on an Australian passport to Australia via a non-US carrier, and
not passing through the US is a bit of a worry (apparently she eventually went
via HK which means she never went anywhere near the US, I have no idea if the
original route was via the US)
If this is true then it simply means that it's not wise to be a lawyer acting
for someone the US isn't particularly happy with.
It's somewhat extraordinary, but as long as the word "rendition"
doesn't get added to that, it's no worse than embarrassing for everyone.
