Sounds like a TSA mishap

Sensible. I know of a daily Air New Zealand/Qantas code shared flight
LHR-LAX then depending on the day of week, HNL-AKL-SYD or
PPT-AKL-SYD. For the Honolulu version passengers are deemed
to enter the US on touchdown at LAX and leave the US from HNL.
There was (is?) no transit facility at LAX, so for the flight which
sits on US soil long enough to refuel and crew change, the
pax have to enter the US, mill around the lobby, then go thru
departure procedures. Last time I milled around the lobby at LAX
(pre 2001) it was a sordid place.

"If this is true then it simply means that it's not wise to be a lawyer
acting for someone the US isn't particularly happy with."

Kim dotcom is getting similar treatment, right?

I'm seriously worried about what the USA will do next now.
