Oh, Oracle isn't the victim here. Nor is Google, for that matter. And
neither is the villain. These are two huge powerful corporations, both
trying to exploit the other's technology/business success using the court
or other legal maneuvering.
The trial and legal arguments are fascinating, but I'm sick of this naive
good-guy/bad-guy perspective. It's juvenile, and completely ignoring the
fact the neither company needs any assistance from the public. We're
talking about two shrewd mega-corporations here. Give them some credit.
They're not little schoolchildren crying, "But Mr. Harrison, you promised
this wouldn't be on the test and it is! It's not fair!"
(And Google didn't need to be clairvoyant. License wording aside, Sun had
made it perfectly clear to all involved that their intent was to keep
