Really? (well TBF I don't know, your country of origin, and the world is a
joyously diverse place, with many cultural foibles)
Think of it as an onomatopoeia (sp?), a word that sort of describes it's own
sound like beep, or woof.
In the case of 'pah', you are looking at the dismissive exhalation of breath
often made when "something is not all it's cracked up to be", indeed
very similar to the the 'plosive' sound at the start of the word plosive,
before you get to the 'l' part ;O)

You have probably heard "pah" before, but never read it. Maybe it should be
spelt "ptith". When you hear it in real life it is quickly followed by "splat"
coming from near your feet—distance inversely proportional to
contempt.
I thought "boffin" was the interesting word. But that one you can
find in the dictionary under its standard
spelling.
