I gave my take on the Harmony TCK thing in a response to the anonymous post
directly below my OP.
TL;DR: Anon and I disagree on just about everything.

The end result of Harmony was being put in the Attic, because no one wanted
to participate (where were the Google contributions to keep it alive?)
Whatever the result of discussions with Sun, Harmony at least had a goal of
becoming a compatible (and complete) implementation of Java. which Android
seems to have cast by the wayside once the bits that were useful to them were
