Nokia downgraded to 'junk'
Authored by: Gringo_ on Tuesday, April 24 2012 @ 04:32 PM EDT

Microsoft/Nokia's big launch at AT&T, carefully staged so no one would notice that people were not lined up in droves to buy the new Windows phones. Then - silence. Now this news "Nokia downgraded to 'junk'". Whether Nokia survives or not, this moment looks very, very bad for Microsoft.

Nokia downgraded to 'junk' - why? Because their phones are junk!

"I am more an antique Roman than a Finn"

The reason why the down grade is such big news is that a lot of big institutional investors can not hold stocks that are junk status meaning they will have to sell their positions if they haven't and there will be few big players that can buy them. That will drive the price down further. It is looking more and more like MS will have to cough up more cash if they want to stay in the game.

This seems like a good time to quote Eric Schmidt from todays testimony.

"At the time we were quite concerned with Microsoft's products, it's hard to relate to that now."
