Is there any document that describes these trademark usages? It is claimed that
the TCK license grants these, but the only TCK license I found explicitly denies
them:
http://openjdk.java.net/legal/OpenJDK-TCK_SE7_27Dec2011.pdf
"1.13 "Trademark License" means a separate agreement, if any,
entered into by the parties that specifies the terms and conditions related to
the use of trademarks, logos and branding in connection with Licensee
Implementations."
"2.3 Branding. No right, title, or interest in or to any trademarks,
service marks, or trade names of Oracle or Oracle’s licensors are granted
hereunder. Such rights, if any, concerning a Compatible Licensee Implementation
may be obtained pursuant to a Trademark License with Oracle. Java, and
Java-related logos, marks and names are trademarks or registered trademarks of
Oracle America, Inc. in the U.S. and other countries."
So copyright and patents are granted through GPLv2.
Claims of compatibility are granted through TCK license (if your implementation
passes).
And trademarks to use the name Java (TM) are granted through...?[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
