There isn't a snowflake's hope in Hades that I will return to
Ubuntu from the real source (Debian). That fustercluck they
called Unity, and Shuttleworth's dismissal of valid concerns
by calling people idiots, have tainted that particular
distro. Shuttleworth stated that he couldn't pander to every
need, well, that's fine, but it appears Debian has no
problems doing so. People staying on Ubuntu can enjoy the
brain-dead tablet interface on desktops, I prefer something a
little more configurable to my needs. RIP Ubuntu.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04 today (Thursday), and so far it's working great.
There seems to be a regression with new windows dodging the launcher bar (fixed
after release in 11.10, but seems to be back in 12.04), but I assume this will
get fixed again soon.
I rather like Unity, and I think it's fixed a number of the fundamental design
problems in Gnome 2 (e.g. managing multiple virtual desktops). I was skeptical
about it before trying it last fall, but now I wouldn't want to go back to Gnome
2.
I've been using the new version for just a few hours, but so far I would
recommend the upgrade to anyone. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
