If anybody *killed* sun, that was clearly Oracle.
They bought it and promptly ruined several of its popular software projects

Heh, Sun's problem wasn't so much about open source enthusiasm. Sun's problem
was mostly about having products nobody (or very very few) wanted to buy and
didn't know how to fix that. They went on a buying spree and ended up with even
more products they couldn't make money with or had hard time making money with.
Personally, I think they should have gave up selling their old products that had
low/no demand and focused on making/selling what the market wanted/needed.
At any rate, I agree. He was in charge and was in favour of this.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
