>>Well, the upside is no one will ever again
>>describe him in an article as a FOSS person.
I think it'll be 10 days, 14 at the outside. FM is paid to say what certain
parties need to appear in the media, no matter how ridiculous. It would be nice
if you were right, but I just don't see all of the mainstream journalists wising
up that quickly.

Too late he still has creds with the likes of
theregister.co.uk in that they are still quoting him as an
expert of FLOSS and patents[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I could not help, but wonder if you and Florian are well known to each other?
Perhaps an old couple? The way you like each other, you know.
He calls you groklie and make joke about avoiding the public he is so keen of.
And you gave your sweethard a charming swing,

BTW About de-compilation. I thought Oracle made it. And how could the pros from
Google be so stupid. Stupid. And I got a glimpse. De-compiling isn't fun. Why
would they have done it? They could have done better, cheating. They could have
copied the open (available) source, altered it accordingly. You see. Even an
idiot wouldn't have de-compiled the bytecode / binaries because there is the
source available. Further more, as I unterstand it: Those are the API
descriptions, not even the real code.
So: What is is about? I don't get it?[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Sorry, I just don't quite understand your position. Java
(actually the OpenJDK) is open-source. Android is a different
implementation under a different OSS license, which has
actually fragmented Java. If Google had wanted to, they could
have built Android on top of the open-source OpenJDK. But they
didn't, because they didn't like the OSS GPL license. So if
you want to look at it from an OSS perspective, what you
really have here is a battle between two open-source licenses:
GPL and Apache.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Hey PJ lets help him re brand himself.
we just register a new domain for him:
www.ProprietaryPatentsAttackingFOSSblog.com
and then point it at a server with a redirect to his site.
This way if we ever need to add a link to his blog we have a nice address we can
use :D

Things really must look bleak for some, if they come trolling here. Thanks for
letting this through - it adds to the general impression. :)[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Florian is only pro FOSS when it's BSD licensed... because that's the license
his masters like because they can keep taking and don't have to share any
improvements back with the pool...[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
