Oracle’s case is as dead now as when it began. Like SCO with its
insane attacks against IBM and Linux, Oracle doesn’t have a leg to stand on in
its Google litigation. --- The following program contains immature

The great thing about Groklaw is that it is no better than
the people who gather here. And there are some great people
here. Thanks for pitching in.
Grateful to be a small part of it.

An excellent, simple summary of the damage to innovation caused by the

WSJ article
Microsoft Corp. is making a $300
million
investment in Barnes & Noble Inc.'s BKS Nook digital-book
business
and college-texts unit - Microsoft will have a
17.6% stake
As part of
the move, there will be a Nook application
included in the new Windows 8, which
is scheduled to have a
release preview in early June.
The alliance
comes after the companies openly feuded over
the Nook. Microsoft last year sued
Barnes & Noble and the
manufacturers of the Nook, charging the device
infringed on
its patents. Barnes & Noble said Microsoft was trying to
"bully" smaller companies that used versions of Google
Inc.'s GOOG -0.08%
Android operating system, as Barnes &
Noble does for the
Nook.
Talk about a hostile takeover! This hijacking needs
to be
investigated. Microsoft leveraged their bogus patents to
force B&N
into this. I think we will see more Microsoft
"innovation" like this as they
force Android adopters into
their fold. I will no longer be recommending the
Nook to my friends (or even to my enemies!)

Not sure whether this is Off Topic or not:
Have Google mentioned that Oracle was a supporter of Apache Harmony before they
bought SUN? ie. Oracle thought Harmony was perfectly good and legal up until
the moment that they bought SUN. (Since Harmony is at least as guilty as Google
is wrt. SUN/Oracle Copyrights, Trademarks and Patents (can we start calling them
CTP, rather than IP?))
And if not, does anyone know why it's not relevant?[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I went to the charts on Nokia shares to see how they are
getting along.
While the DJA has held steady and even
recently been going north, Nokia has
been marching south, and
currently hovers within a few cents of their 52 week
low. It
seems they never recovered from the plunge they took after
Elop's last
announcements on April 11th. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
