What is Oracle's big picture?
If jury finds for Oracle (and judge agrees
with jury), then what (MySQL forks, other FOSS)???
So, what would happen as
the if Google could not do what Harmony did, then how can Harmony do it too (or
others)?
And, are then any forks of MySQL, then in danger of the same court
room logic - simply because of IP owned by Oracle (same copyright and patent
arguement), where what happens is that Oracle can in effect control any GPLv2
licensed project simply because of API's copyright, and patents?
Then,
what happens to the forks of MySQL?
A look at the MySQL forks
Percona
OurDelta
MariaDB
Drizzle
"There is no
telling which forks will prosper and which will fizzle out, but that depends
to a large degree on Oracle, and how it governs the project in the future
".
If the jury rules against Google, then the question
must be asked. Q-Does not the GPL declaration mean anything?
I can now
see the wisdom of the GPLv3 (where if SUN used that, then it would be pretty
hard to then use patents backward against any non-approved GPLv3 code
users).
Someone contact Linus, and other GPLv2 projects, and have them get
started on an understanding of what is going on here!
