I've never used the Android SDK, nor looked at exactly what it offers.
Nevertheless, I don't think the burden of proof is on me here. The original
claim was that no Java app that does anything remotely useful will work "as-is"
on Android. Given that the language and a great deal of the API are identical,
that claim seems preposterous on the face of it.
I don't know
all the gory details of Tomcat, but from what I've heard of what
Android provides, I can't imagine what Tomcat might use that isn't available on
Android. Would Tomcat be useful on a phone? No. Would it compile and
run? I find it hard to believe that the answer is no. Can you name
any specific missing APIs that would prevent Tomcat from compiling for
Android?
