Fortunately, many of the ideas you picked up learning Java--inheritance,
polymorphism, overloading, hiding, messaging, setters, getters, exceptions--are
language independent.
You'll need new syntax, and some new class and package names.
But, per the Church-Turing hypothesis, it's all the same in the end.
The important thing about programs is the algorithms and data structures.
Niklaus Wirth just won't go away easily; sticking your data structures inside an
object model just makes the data structure that much more important. And it
makes it easier to keep your algorithms isolated, so you can improve them when
you need to. (Wirth is 78, BTW.)
Oh no, I just found Wirth's Law: "Software is getting slower more rapidly
than hardware becomes faster."
