Yes, everything in the java and javax namespaces
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, May 04 2012 @ 09:26 AM EDT
Sun did have some proprietary stuff that they put in sun.*
namespace amongst others.

If the java language is free to use, then the java
namespaces are too, otherwise nothing makes sense.

They can't coherently argue that the language is free and
some bits of a nebulous, interconnected and interdependent
API structure are too, but not others (and that nobody ever
bothered to document which were which, or even check if such
separation were possible without breaking dependencies.)

The defined bright line is that java is free to use, and
they should be held to that.

Sadly when we get to the point of debating which APIs are
core and which not, we have already fallen into the trap of
arguing with idiots (or at least people who have a vested
interest in appearing as idiots to avoid taking
responsibility for the consequences of their absurd
wranglings.)

They are all core.
