Oracle will pay the ultimate price for this: people
Authored by: celtic_hackr on Wednesday, May 09 2012 @ 03:24 AM EDT
I think you underestimate people. For one thing the general population may not
be aware or care what Oracle does regarding software. However those who are
seeking employment do care about a number of things. Among those things are:
compensation, work environment, prestige of the company.

Only people who care more about compensation than anything else are going to
want to work for the most hated company in the Computer Industry. While that
used to belong to SCO. They're now out of the picture. They aren't hiring and
even if they were, who would take a job that is perhaps a month away from going
out of business? So, who is now the most hated company in the software business?
I would certainly vote for Oracle.

I would certainly never work for them. Nor will I write any code for anything
Oracle owns. Including Java. I wouldn't touch any of it with a 10' pole, and
indeed I will recommend to any potential client to move off of all Oracle
products if they can.

I suspect many programmers will feel much as I do. Some won't care. Many will.
Oracle has hurt itself in many ways that will become evident in due time. None
of the best coders will want anything to do with Oracle. Their best talent will
jump ship at the next best opportunities. We are now watching the Death of
Oracle. Hari-Kari by overreaching lawsuit.
