Stanford Engineering called me last night as part of their annual fundraising.
(I have a masters in CS from Stanford)
The callers for these kinds of things are always students, so they can't
possibly have any impact on anything, but I told the caller in no uncertain
terms that I could not in good conscience give any money to Stanford since
Mitchell had (in my opinion) lied in his testimony. Obviously Mitchell was
speaking for himself (or should I say for his paymaster) and not for Stanford-
-but I'm thinking it is ok to hold them accountable anyway.
Alas, I see that Mitchell's MS and PhD are from MIT, which was my
undergraduate school--sigh. Mitchell's bought-and-paid-for testimony
impugns _both_ of my degrees.
As someone who studied programming languages and compilers extensively
at both Stanford and MIT, I can say with confidence that Mitchell is either a
shill or a moron, and having gone to both of the schools he attended, I find it
hard to believe that he could be a moron.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
