Juror note: I'm sick. Can I get a sick day without being discharged. Sorry.
Rachel King @ZDNetRachel
Van Nest says maybe jury should go home now. Alsup says she probably wants
tomorrow off.
Rachel King @ZDNetRachel
Alsup warns she might want Monday off. Van Nest says bring her in. Jacobs
agrees. At least we can all agree on something.

I'm sure it would be awful doing jury duty while sick, but I'm even upset that
I'm missing next week because of vacation.

Juror back in. Says she wants Friday off to get through it. Alsup asks what she
has. Says she has a cold, starting this morning.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

She's coughing into her shirt now. Alsup mulling over what to do. She says she
doesnt want to be discharged -- very animatedly.

Juror says she wants to take a nap because she's tired. (I'm not making this
up.)[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Turns out the juror is actually a nurse. Alsup says "what are the
odds?" LOUD laughter in the courtroom.
Rachel King @ZDNetRachel
Alsup says if you want to go home now, he's sympathetic. If she wants Friday
off, he's skeptical.

Sending her back into the jury room. Alsup says he has an idea. Going to run by
Jacobs and Van Nest now.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Here's the plan: Send jury home now. If she's still sick tomorrow, she gets
discharged. Alsup not wasting time, but jury dropping like flies[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Tells jury if they take the day off, it could actually inconvenience them later
if they could find verdict tomorrow. (They have no idea...)

So guess we're not getting that transcript reading today. Jury will be heading
home now instead of 4PM.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Alsup said its not easy as just pushing a button to find transcript excerpts.
(really, it's not.)
