Yes and this is an argument for why Dalvik!=Java. But the great thing about
Android/Delvik is that its great for developers which was the whole point Google
was going for. You can take your existing Java knowledge and apply it to
Android (unless you hold the view that Oracle owns this as well). All you have
to change is the UI. It's also great because it throws out all the Java UI and
gives you a new one that is custom designed for its mobile use case. This means
you can reuse all the real code from previous projects and libraries and just do
a new bit of UI coding. Because of the new market that android is making (or
copying off Apple maybe) there is no way to just use existing UI interfaces. It
really did need a new one for this new system. This makes the Android output
more consistent and standardized.
