I also ignored that rule and continue to defend myself today against such
individuals. And that includes the verbal bullying kind.
However, I
think there's a wider section of Society which feels constrained due to such
"instruction". It's amazing how many people I've spoken with feel that any mode
of defense - no matter how passive the defense is - should be considered an
assault. All of them have - so far - backed away from that position when I say:
so... someone takes a swing at me to hit me, I take a step back so I'm out of
range, passive defense... and that's wrong?
From my perspective: there's
definitely room for some serious education.
Meanwhile... the bullies who
feel no qualms about being abbusive are probably viewing society as a bunch of
sheep because so many don't seem to want to even act to defend
themselves.
