At work, I overheard someone say "just Google it on Yahoo
instead" after discovering that Yahoo was selected as the
web browser's search provider, and she apparently didn't
know how to change the setting or go straight to Google
itself.
I cringed at the cluelessness implied by "Google it on
Yahoo". I cringe even more at the idea that if such
cluelessness becomes widespread, it could be used to take
away Google's trademark rights.
It seems "Internet" is being similarly corrupted to mean
"Internet access", as in a work memo saying "the Internet
will be down from 0300-0400 this Sunday due to maintenance
of our servers", or an ISP saying "We offer the fastest
Internet in the city".

Why couldn't you "google something on bing"?
