The problem is the developed inward looking (and closing?) mindset of some.
Europeans (including the UK) tend to be more widely travelled than their US
counterparts. In our own little and not wealthy UK community, virtually every
family takes a European vacation twice a year and many have been much farther
afield (The US, Mexico, Peru, India and the Far East etc. all figure). The
difference is in someways exemplified by personal experience. A US holiday maker
in Ireland expected to find a jogging track around Lough Corrib. He had no idea
of the scale of the lough. Then there was the 3am call from Silicon Valley -
