If only we could get lathes and milling machines at that
price..
The MakerBot 3d printer is
selling for under $2000
There is also the original RepRap
or you can build a CNC machine
On the internet nobody knows your a
dog and now with
crowdsourcing and social media they can't tell your still operating out of your
basement. The big incumbents with brick, mortar, and employees should be
worried. Open technology is here and growing, the barriers to entry are falling.
They can try and put up new barriers like industry certifications, telco
testing, regulations, but most of these don't apply to 'personal use'.
Can
they go after the tool makers for inducement to commit infringement, when there
are non infringing uses. Or will they throw down enough legal hurdles that most
will not get started. Because being able to hire lawyers is about the only
thing they have left to combat innovation. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
