I meant by the innovation from the computer manufactures. Not MS. Since IBM and
Apple did not corner the hardware, many more "clones" were sold
running the MS OS (DOS). Then add products like Lotus 1-2-3, Word Star and
Wordperfect; they effectively ruled the business world as well.
"Clones" were cheaper and in many (if not most) cases, faster.
If Apple made the move to "Wintel/clones" machines many years ago
(back when 808x, 286, 386 processors), they might have the ruling operating

without innovation.
Into:
Microsoft would not be where they are
today without [being able to "borrow" the] innovation [of others].
Then it
makes sense.
