Heh. The thing that amuses me here is that M$ is actually
doing the right thing for once (well, if they execute) - but
seems unable to communicate it.
If I understand it correctly, they'll offer upgrades to all
current phones, but those upgrades won't include support for
NFC or multiple processors because the hardware doesn't have
NFC or multiple processors... Of course, they've chosen to
call the upgrade for current phones WP7.8 and the upgrade
for new phones WP8 because...otherwise people would believe
they supported their phones. (Microsoft Marketing:

The one thing I'd hope for from marketing people is that
they'd be _less_ likely to be tone deaf and torpedo device
adoption for absolutely no reason at all.
I originally suspected that Elop was deliberately
bankrupting Nokia in service to M$. This might actually be
evidence that something in M$ selects for executives with
absolutely no ability to communicate with the public.
They're just missing something fundamental.
